Usability Heuristics
Ironman app
Usability inspection of Ironman app - an app to watch IRONMAN events
Challenge
The IRONMAN Tracker app is designed to provide real-time tracking for athletes participating in IRONMAN races. It allows users to follow athletes' progress throughout the race, offering detailed updates on their splits for swim, bike, run, and transition times.
I wasn't exactly satisfied with the user experience so I decided to make Heuristic Evaluation of this app.
Heuristic evaluation is usability inspection method used in user interface design to identify
usability problems. It was developed by Jakob Nielsen and includes 10 principles.
Problem
The application contains several serious user problems, mainly related to the navigation in the application, which is not consistent and can lead to user confusion.
The application meets the 5/10 evaluation, which in my opinion is not sufficient.
Opportunity
Working on the heuristic evaluation gave me a valuable opportunity to identify areas for improvement and enhance the user experience. I focused on streamlining navigation to make key features more accessible and intuitive. Additionally, I reimagined the home screen to emphasize important elements, such as the real-time progress of tracked participants and quick access to races of interest. Through this process, I was able to create wireframes that showcase these enhancements, demonstrating how thoughtful design can elevate the app's usability and engagement.
